Liminal spaces - bootlegging a work of art

The Spring of 2025 I took a class on participatory and socially engaged art. I was tasked with Bootlegging a work of art - interpreting, transposing, and mis/translating an aspect of a work into a new form for new audiences. I chose to do this for Rashid Johnson’s God Painting “What’s Happenin”, 2024.

Mystical Allegories in The Tower of Nagas by Leonora Carrington: An Iconological and Psychoanalytical Exploration

After exploring different methods of art history during the Fall semester of 2024, I was tasked with producing a strong analysis of a single artwork - of my choosing - using one or two methodologies previously discussed in class. Feeling extremely drawn to Leonora Carrington’s Tower of Nagas (1991), after seeing it in person at the Sotheby’s Modern + Contemporary auction viewing in November 2024, I decided to conduct my research project on this piece.

The european galleries at the met - formal analysis of El Greco’s Vision of Saint John (1608-14)

Post field trip to the European Galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC, my Methods of Art History Class was instructed to choose a work of art and conduct a formal analysis on the piece using Heinrich Wölfflin’s Principles of Art History - on Formalism.

Exhibition response - Vitals Signs: Artists and the Body at the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York City

Vitals Signs: Artists and the Body, an exhibition at MoMa NYC, became the subject of analysis for my Practicing Curating class (Spring 2025). With the goal of creating an exhibition response after visiting the museum, I really took note of the curatorial details that entailed the show’s creation and development. I observed how the artworks flowed in conversation, and really tried to understand the ways in which the show embodies the sacred curatorial rule - an exhibit’s proposal should originate from the artworks themselves, not the other way around.
